“ We went for the first time last night, to see a particular music performance. The Unexpected is a duo that I thoroughly enjoyed! I'm not generally a beer drinker, but I decided on the blueberry beer and it was fabulous, so I had another. My husband was drinking the Porter, and when I took a sip of his, I was torn on whether my next beer would be another blueberry or the Porter because they were both fantastic. The atmosphere was terrific. We sat with a bunch of friends around a huge table, where we could listen to the live music and also holdconversations. The other patrons were all very friendly and the vibe felt like we were all at a mutual friend's house. I highly recommend this spot. There was a food truck outside for anyone wanting something to eat, and the staff was very welcoming and friendly. We'll be back! ”

“ Stopped at this place on random day after work. The ambiance was eh and there was no music playing. The crowd was much older as well. I liked the beer a lot though and they had a shuffleboard table that was really fun. I think if you had a large group of people, it would be really fun. ”

“ This is another very good Long Island brewery and worthy of a visit. They have a variety of beer on tap. Their stout and IPA beers are very good. The tasting room is a good size and there is an additional separate room. There was live music on the Saturday afternoon that I went there. They have growler fills, a canning machine for 32 ounce crowlers, and four packs and cases of 16 ounce cans available for sale. ”

“ Not just another brewery for Long Island, another great addition to the scene. Charlie is a great guy and runs a great spot just down the road from spider bite, and the second of 4 hopeful spots in Holbrook. Once Swingset and Square-head open their tasting rooms, the Holbrook/Ronkonkoma area will be a new craft destination and I'll get to have even more of an excuse to visit 1940s! Great beer and a great place to grab a pint or flight, I only wish it was themed a bit more 40's-esque. That being said, I love the minimal bullshit atmosphere, a brewery through and through the way it should be. No TVs blasting every game, logo'd glasses, knowledge of styles, and a great place to come and socialize. They are dog and good people friendly and usually have a couple guest taps up for grabs on premises, no crazy beers just yet, just solid beers in their respected styles. Cheers guys. Be sure to check to see what's going on and what food truck is parked outside. ”

“ Uh... Holbrook? What the heck can you find in Holbrook? Warehouses, Vets Hwy, Islip Airport and OH! Yea! Craft beer! Welcome to the Long Island craft scene, 1940s Brewing Co.! We're glad to see your micro? nano?, brewing self here! The brews were good, served up with passion and a smile. Most of the names of beer had stories and/or were named after meaningful things to the brew-masters. They seemed to be a bit traditionalist and modest. No crazy flavors or wild experimentation.I enjoyed the Bohemia blonde and I actually didn't mind their 838, which is a Rye. Typically, I'm not a Rye fan whatsoever, but I might've drank a pint on it's own there. The paint was still drying when I last went in the early fall/spring. It's nice, low key and a great spot to hangout for a bit. I'm excited to see what they're going to come up with in 2017. Side note: Did anyone notice their address is 1337 Lincoln Ave ? Nerds will understand LOL. ”

“ I'll give you a couple of reasons this place rates 5 stars with me - They have an awesome rye beer (Roggenbier) called 838. I'm not sure why more breweries don't offer ryes? I read that rye tends to be an expensive grain or maybe its less familiar, but judging by the beer bus group I was with it seems in demand. The other reason is that they serve their beer in beautiful pint GLASSES as opposed to plastic solo cups. I imagine as a brewer there are a lot of variables you have to contend with in how your product is presented, stored and served (never mind the brewing process) so when a brewer serves their product in a proper glass it conveys a sense of respect for their customers. Breweries own tasting rooms sets the standard and 1940s sets a high one. That's a pretty solid couple of reasons, but I also like the look of this place with the wood and stone, beer barrel drinking tables and handsome wood bar. Its not so "brightly lit" and didn't have a bunch of TVs to distract you from the beer drinking experience. Seems like a good place to enjoy the company of friends and some damn fine brews! ”

“ Go Holbrook! I grew up not too far from this location, I can't believe 1940's Brewing Company chose this area to open their brewery. When John Harvard's closed, I felt a loss. They had a great happy hour and I could grab a pint of Pumpkin Ale during the fall. 1940's Brewing Company has now filled that microbrewery slot. When I sat down at the last chair at the bar, I started talking to the bartender. Will you offer a Oatmeal Stout? Yes! Good question, it should be available in the next two weeks. The brewery itself is a typical Holbrook joint, off the beaten path on Lincoln ave. If your looking for an Irish Pub driving down Lincoln Ave, forget it. This is Holbrook! They grabbed a corner warehouse and opened shop. It's not a gastropub, there's no food being served here. You walk in, grab a seat at the bar or choose lotsa of standing room. Holbrook! What 1940's Brewing Company saved in their decor, they make it up in product. Holy Moley! One thing about Long Island in general, we can make some beer! I'm not a flight guy, I like to drink a pint and enjoy. The first time here, I highly recommend their beer flight. I was able to taste all their different brews and make a determination on what I like going forward. I'm not an IPA guy, so scratch that. The cool thing about 1940's Brewing Company, they aren't IPA heavy like most microbreweries. Hefeweizen for the win! I like drinking a summer beer like Leinenkugel so the Hefeweizen with the fruit notes made it my favorite for today's visit. Main St Patchogue is seeing a nice resurgence with great restaurants and coffee houses. Holbrook? We have better pizza and now a brewery making some damn good beer. Oh yeah, there are a few Patchogue beers on tap... Come to 1940's Brewing Company, have a pint and bring home a growler. ”

“ I'm always a fan of new locals brews and am excited to welcome 1940's to their home in Holbrook! Like Spider Bite Brewing, they're located in an industrial area so finding their location may prove difficult the first time around but once you know where they are, you're good to go. It's quite spacious when you walk in and there's a beautiful, full wrap-around bar with plenty of seats, as well as a couple seats near the windowsill which acts as another tabletop. The feeling inside is warm but a little rustic, I liked it! They had a bunch of beers lined up, I believe 6-7 of their own, and 2 guest taps which was nice. My top pick was their Arsenal Pale Ale. English style pale ale with a smooth finish and came in at 7%. They also made a nice Hefeweizen and Saison if you're more into those styles. Pints were $6 and served in a glass (yes!), and flights were $8 for 4 tastes. Looking forward to visiting again! ”
